Anything Goes Railing

The musical Anything Goes takes place on a cruise ship. A couple of scenes occur at the ship's railing. Therefore, we built a railing that raised and lowered at the edge of the stage. Our student rigging supervisor spent days working on prototypes until a satisfactory mechanism was built. The end result was a smoothly run railing that raised and lowered with the pull of tie line. In the future I would like to explore using either air or hydraulics to do the same thing.
